Community Rules & Cube Safety Guidelines

We love our VAMOS Community! We want to help you to become stronger, for life ™ and have a great experience while using VAMOS facilities and programs.

Like any healthy community, we (VAMOS staff, athletes and guests) must follow these guidelines and work together to ensure the best experience for everyone at VAMOS.

Before You Train

You must complete our Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and have a current VAMOS membership subscription to use VAMOS facilities. Your VAMOS membership is personal to you so no one else is permitted to use your membership. If your health condition or personal information has changed, it’s important that you keep us updated.

While we encourage our members to progressively increase their strength, it is really important that you listen to your body and let a Coach know if you are feeling unwell, have an injury or if an exercise doesn’t feel right.

Booking and Cube Usage

  • Cube reservation: All individual training cubes must be booked in advance via the VAMOS app.
  • Please respect other Athlete’s time: We know that time is precious so please adhere strictly to your booked time slot. Vacate the cube promptly at the end of your session to allow the next athlete to begin on time.
  • Cube availability: While we all have a favourite cube, there will unfortunately be times when your favourite cube is not available, even when you have booked it in advance. Rest assured our staff will do their best to accommodate your preferences so we ask that you please be respectful to staff and other athletes should your preferred cube not be available.
  • Cancellation: If you need to cancel a cube reservation, please do so at least 12 hours ahead of time. If you are late, or if you don’t show up to your scheduled session, VAMOS reserves the right to charge you a late cancellation fee or a no show fee.
  • Equipment use: Please only use VAMOS equipment for your personalised VAMOS training program. Please return all equipment to its designated storage area before leaving. Wipe down all equipment you have used with the provided disinfectant wipes. You will be responsible for any loss or damage caused by you to our equipment.
  • Phones: Please be mindful of other athletes if you are talking on the phone, and if you are taking videos or photos of your workout please ensure you are not capturing images or videos of other athletes (unless you have asked their permission).
  • Shoes: It’s OK to remove shoes to help your lifting but for hygiene reasons we ask that you please leave socks on at all times.

Train Safely

Please follow any health and safety directions from VAMOS staff and always ask for help if you are unsure.  If you are hurt while using VAMOS equipment or you noticed that equipment is broken please let us know immediately.

Here are some key safety guidelines when training in the cubes:

  • Use barbell clips for all exercises using the bar (exception with landmine exercises).
  • Load the plates onto the barbell on the floor or on the rack resting on the J hooks (don't balance the bar across the bench or prop it up on the wall).
  • Do not walk around or move to face the mirror with a barbell on your back.
  • Set up at the correct height on the rack for barbell exercise such as the back squat, bench press, and barbell lunges - avoid setting up too high or too low.
  • Face inward in the rack for all standing barbell exercises.
  • Clear equipment away from behind all TRX exercises and barbell exercises on the rack.
  • The TRX attachment must stay fixed on the rack at all times, do not remove.
  • Use the handle to steer the bench, do not drag it by the seat.
  • Do not climb on the lat pulldown seat, if you need to climb up for chin ups/pull ups stand on the bench instead.
  • Do not attach the J-hooks to the rack while the cables are down, move the cables to the top of the rack.
  • When picking up dumbbells and kettlebells off the shelves, and the barbell off the wall, make sure you’re not reaching over anything.
  • Put weights away that you're not using / don't leave weights that you're not using near you whilst you're performing exercises.

Kids

  • Please ensure that your children stay within your designated cube for their safety and that behaviour is respectful of the experience of other athletes.
  • Please supervise your children at all times and please do not let your children pick up weights or climb on VAMOS equipment.
  • For their own safety, please don’t let your children run around the gym, or enter another athlete’s cube.
  • Our coaches cannot supervise your children - they are busy looking after our wonderful athletes.

Teens

VAMOS may allow teen (14 year to 17 year old) members to join as a VAMOS Athlete at the discretion of the VAMOS team.

For health and safety, teens must have had an assessment with a Coach who will determine (in the Coach’s absolute discretion) whether they will be able to train safely and effectively.  Teens must have parent’s consent to become members including entering into the VAMOS Athlete Agreement on their behalf and must strictly adhere to their prescribed VAMOS program.

Dogs

  • While we love your well behaved furry training buddies, dogs must be on leash at all times and stay within your cube area and under your immediate supervision and control.
  • Please do not let your dog run around the gym or enter other athletes’ cubes.
  • We ask that you don’t bring your dog with you if your dog is dirty (for example, very wet hair or  sandy, grassy or muddy paws) and please don’t let your dog sit on exercise mats or equipment.
  • Owners are responsible for immediately cleaning up after their dog and ensuring their dog does not disrupt other athletes or staff.

Other things to note about using VAMOS facilities

  • Always respect other athletes, guests and our staff. Please use VAMOS facilities in a way that doesn’t disturb, detract or impair anyone’s experience.
  • VAMOS sometimes takes photographs and videos of the VAMOS gyms and athletes. We’ll do our best to let you know beforehand but this may not always be possible. We reserve the right to use these images and videos for commercial purposes without payment.
  • VAMOS is not responsible for your property if it is damaged or lost while in our facilities (including lockers), except where we have been negligent.
  • VAMOS uses CCTV to keep you safe and monitor incidents in our facilities.
  • VAMOS may update these Rules at any time. The most recent Community Rules will always be available on the VAMOS website so please check in from time to time for up to date Rules.
  • These Community Rules form part of your Athlete Agreement. If they are repeatedly violated VAMOS may ask you to leave the gym, or if it’s really serious, terminate your membership at VAMOS.
